A Short, But Busy Week
For the first time today, we finally have all our friends back in class. Between the holiday and cold season, we’ve had a small group every day since last week. But that hasn’t kept us from working hard and enjoying every minute.
We’re in the middle of assessments in preparation for parent teacher conferences this month. We hope everyone finds the time to sign up for a meeting so you can get a better understanding of what we do all day in Montessori and your child’s individual progress. You can find your child’s on going work in a folder box on the shelf. Here’s a picture to help you locate it in the classroom.
My focus as a teacher of preschool children is the fundamentals. These early months my primary goal is to bring everyone up to speed on letter recognition, phonetic sounds, reading comprehension and writing skills. These are the building blocks for all future learning.
We continue to beautify our classroom with various art projects, including a mixed media alphabet that will decorate the cabinets. These artistic endeavors are endlessly important to development as we improve our fine motor skills and feed our creativity.
The classroom has also recently been enhanced with the addition of a cozy corner. It’s got a mat and a bunch of stuffies and it’s a place we can go when we want to be snuggly. We love it!
That’s all for this week… Stay tuned!
