We love animals!
We’re enjoying animals so much that we decided to keep it rolling. Our big project this week is a mixed media bird window display. As usual, it’s a multi-step process that’s taking us most of the week, but the end results promise to be awesome. Stay tuned next week for a the picture.
First we pulled out our wax paper and shaved crayons to make speckled birds by melting the shavings with our craft iron.
Next step the bird shapes were cut out with legs, beak, and feather soon to follow.
Another fun activity this week was making marshmallow taffy. Now we know that sounds like purely an indulgence, but it’s a great exercise for our pincher grasp! Our teachers used the promise of such a sweet treat to encourage participation in academic challenges all week. We all had to do a minimum of 5 out of 10 challenges and at least 3 of us had to do all of them. Needless to say, we had a record week of challenges completed and we won our prize!
We continued our exploration of all the animal library books and worked on expanding our understanding of relevant vocabulary words. We also built multiple zoos and farms.
Oh! And before we forget, at the end of last week we finally finished our awesome 3D crocodile…
A few fun pictures from the week…
